alexander technique

The Alexander Technique is a way of addressing harmful postural habits. It is a unique process involving change and freedom from harmful habits of use that interfere with natural poise and balance. It is a method of self -help, you learn how to undue harmful practices and replace them with a better way to carry out activities.

Alexander lessons are preventative and rehabilitative and have stress and pain management benefits. Poor posture can affect a host of ailments, such as back pain, shoulder and neck ache, RSI, breathing and digestive problems. The Alexander Technique seeks to address the cause of the problems by encouraging freedom of movement to allow the body to function properly.

The Alexander Technique can be of great assistance with ante-natal and post-natal stages of childbirth. It can help with deeper breathing and with assisting a smoother labour. The Alexander Technique can also help alleviate poor postural habits which can occur after the birth, when looking after the baby, such as feeding, changing nappies, lifting, etc.
